Myocarditis - Symptoms and causes

MYOCARDITIS

⁃ It is the inflammation of the heart muscle, usually in the U.S  as a consequece of infections immunological - rheumatological conditions nutritional or metabolic abnormalities, or radiation.
⁃ Myocarditis also is occasionally  found in pregnancy and with advanced age.
⁃ The myocardium is infiltrated by leukocytes, lymphocytes, and macrophages , leading to inflammation , necrosis of muscle cells, and febrosis, inflammatory damage to heart muscle fibers may reslove spontaneusly or may cause progressive deterioration of the heart with pericarditis , arrhythmias, chronic dilated cardiomyopathy, and heart failure.
⁃ DIAGNOSIS
⁃ Diagnosis is based on history , physical examination, and occasionally on endomyocardisk biopsy.
