MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS
⁃ A disease in which the immune system eats away at the protective covering of nerves.⁃ In MS, resulting nerve damage disrupts communication between the brain and the body.
⁃ CAUSES
⁃ The cause of multiple sclerosis is unknown. It's considered an autoimmune disease in which the body's immune system attacks its own tissues.
⁃ In the case of MS, this immune system malfunction destroys the fatty substance that coats and protects nerve fibers in the brain and spinal cord (myelin).
⁃ SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS
⁃ vision problems.
⁃ tingling and numbness.
⁃ pains and spasms.
⁃ weakness or fatigue.
⁃ balance problems or dizziness.
⁃ bladder issues.
⁃ sexual dysfunction.
⁃ cognitive problems.
